I hope I can ask this here-

Does anyone have any good suggestions for Instant Messaging Software that lets you roll in AIM, Yahoo and others in one? I have been using GAIM but its getting on my nerves...I have used Trillian in the past and it bugged me too

    Thank You

Trillian is the best. I have used it for about 2 years now.

What exactly bugged you about it? Maybe we can help you find a solution to the problem you had.

    Hi Chris

I guess I should suck it up and try trillian again. One day it just started to "bug out" but maybe that was due to an update of Yahoo that was going on at the time.

    Thank you for your help

I love Trillian!!!! Can chat with any platform, can cross-connect parties like a conference call, loads fast, free version works fine for me, free updates, no spyware.

I put the Trillian app in the same category as RoboForm - a tool I can't live without.

Using Trillian Pro and love it. It works with AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, GoogleTalk. Trillian doesn't load fast for me though, when my laptop starts up it takes about 20-30 seconds for Trillian to load. Other than that, I love it.

Aw use that 20 seconds to crack your knuckles to get ready to type.

    Trillian is indeed excellent.

True, 20 seconds isn't that bad, I'm just impatient.

Yes, I was looking around to find a way to make it work. Google bought another chat system, forget the name now, but you can enter your gmail username and server host talk.google.com and port 5222. If you try that and need more, let me know and I'll dig the info again.

Google bought Jabber, btw. Anyway, here's a page with more setup info, I think you may need the Pro version though.

For the Mac users out there there's Adium. It's a wonderful client and is better than Trillian IMO. It does all the major chat networks and has a great following of users. Tons of skins and plugins are available.

By the way, the program for me does load fast - the delay I see it is it connecting to the many services that it aggregates. But this delay for me is about 6 seconds, after the program loads in maybe 1-2 seconds.

RoboForm is a password manager and is free of any malware. I think RoboForm and Trillian (www.ceruleanstudios.com) are two of the very best time-saving tools available - I use each one all day, every day.

We also use Trillian Pro, but have found an annoying problem with it. If installed on Win XP, and if the computer user doesn't have admin priveldges on the PC, the Trillian user is not able to rename or save new IM contacts.

For some reason, the software saves IM contact info in a protected admin-only area of the computer.
