I don't know if this is the proper place to post this - if not please move it

    Micorosoft is offering:

"The Windows Security Update CD will be shipped to you free of charge. This CD includes Microsoft critical updates released through October 2003 and information to help you protect your PC. In addition, you will also receive free antivirus and firewall trial software....
This CD is only available for Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)."

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp

I always keep my system updated - but it is nice if I have to restore Windows I can just pop the CD in and get the updates without having to do all that downloading.

I do hope the free antivirus and firewall don't have to be installed.

Yes we are talking about Micorsoft

If you remember MS had announced they were discontiuning support of many Operating Systems - than reversed themselves. I am a member of many technical forums and the speculation is these are the CDs MS had promised in the discontinuation of support announcement. Since they already have all the CDs ready to go - why not bundle in a trial AV and Firewall Software?

I have ordered the CD and yes it is free.

If I have to restore my XP system for some reason the CD will just shorten the download time required for the critical updates.

Yep, it is. Just ordered it myself.

Thanks for the heads up on that charpaula.

Will make reloading windows much easier in the future.
