June 19th, 2009, 12:06 AM #1Block Google Crazy indexing wp-login.php
I launched a blog a couple weeks ago and it appears Google is in love with my wp-login.php. It seems to be finding a link to it on every page and trying to index the wp-login.php from dozens of posts.
I blocked the login through robots.txt, but now in google webmaster tools it shows all the page repeatedly blocked from every post.
1. Does blocking the page hurt the referring pages SEO?
2. Should I unblock it and let google have at it... seems like a waste of resources and could create a dup content penalty.
3. Is there a better way to handle this?

I wouldn't block anything that Google sent me...
Let them run all over my site.
Any search engine that wants to know more about me is COOL!
The more they know about my sites, the more traffic they send to me.
WE ALL HATE THE BULLY IN THE YARD ...
But if they pay me for my intolerance ....

Generally I agree Jimmy, but it looked like that was all Google wanted to index. Since blocking the file, they are going after other pages.

Might as well be a database of your site and take it out for a spin...
Those two nerds have made me close to a $1,000,000 in the last 12 years and there is nothing BAD that I can say about them ....

That is how I have it in my robots.txt too, to block from indexing that page and others like wp-content, wp-admin, plugins, etc. I don't need dupe content of the same scripts on the net. The bot was indexing everything when I first put up the blog and it took a while for it to follow my robots.txt .
If they are not errors in your Webmaster tools, and it just shows that those pages are blocking the spiders (restricted pages), it should be OK. How many is it?

Thousands? Ouch. Sounds like something is wrong. I would be concerned too and that may draw some red flags by G. I'd take it down.
