I love gadgets and I've looked at handhelds for a long time. The only reason why I haven't bought one yet is because I'm not sure I need one. That doesn't mean I don't want one For those of you who have handhelds, what do you use them for? Do you use them often? Which handhelds do you recommend?

The Blackberry looks cool but I don't know anybody who has one, so chat is out, also do they have non-US coverage?

As soon as I find a dealer who has it in stock and at a deal price I'm buying the treo600, I've seen it as low as $230 for the purchase.

I'm waiting for the Nokia 7700 to launch, will be in the second quater of this year,

It's a PDA, it's an MP3 player, Video and still digital camera, triband cell phone, FM radio, it also has something called visual radio - you can actually recieve pictures and text via radio signals on that machine! The best part about this gadget is the size of it's screen, Nokia has eliminated a keypad and has incorporated a touch-screen with 640*320 resolution. it's got an in-build opera browser compatible with flash, makes surfing on the mobile just like on the desktop!

Data is stored on postage-stamp sized MMC cards, upto 512 MB per card

    Well,

I actually really like gadgets -- I'm afraid to admit I have a Palm, Blackberry, iPod, and a phone.

I think it's what you want to do with it to be honest that determines what you want. Do you want to use it as a phone, a PDA, for music etc.

I would check out www.cnet.com and look at the reviews on handhelds.

I've had them all at one point or played with them at work. I always start at cnet for electronics.

I'm kind a lusting after the new CLIE, but there is no phone.

OK, so I'm about to shameslessly plug my program. If you like Audio Books you can save a $100 on any Audible ready device (basicly everything on the market except a blackberry) if you sign up for a year. So, you pay $15 a month (total of a $180 for the year) get 2 audio programs a month and save a $100 on a device. It's a great deal. And if you buy it through your affiliate link, you'll get $16. I'm posting the links on Thursday.

In any event, cnet is a good place to start. Enjoy your gadget.

    Cheers,

    Beth

I've got the treo 600 -- great device, its a little heavy but its thin enough that I usually am able to carry it in my pocket without any noticeable bulge.

If you want to go the phone route, I would check the smart phone out. I think it's the kewlest gadget on the market. http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kysm...art_series.htm

Where were you able to get one for that price? I've had my eye on this machine since it came out. If it's available for that price now, I'm definitely interested. Is that with the $150 rebate Sprint is now offering?

I currently have a Handspring Visor Deluxe with the phone module that slides into the springboard slot. It works great, but is very large and heavy.

Finally got myself a treo and I'm in love! I have been lusting after it for a while, but I had just gotten a new phone when I realized the treo was what I really wanted.

I was able to be on top of stuff while sitting at the doctor's office waiting room. SWEET!

OMG. I was reading the posts that lead up to this and thinking: What are these people talking about, some of this stuff is ancient... Then I noticed it was a severely resurrected thread
