Years ago when I started banners were the favourite links. Then it changed to text links and now I am experiencing a change back again to the banners.

Is this what you're seeing other people use, or what's working for you?

If your pre-sell spin for a merchant, who has a easy to navigate site with great products, either should suffice. Banner + enticing sales hype with a few product sample links + category landing page links at bottom works in all cases.

Well over 95% of my clicks are from text links. I have banners and text links on all pages, but the banners just don't get clicked.

I am using a modified script that offers you the ability to use an image and text; my clicks are higher since I changed.

Celica. It is what works for me. On one of my websites I had only textlinks and the clickthrough rate was very little. Then I added some small banners and the clickthroughrate went up.
Ecom is right. On other pages I have sample product links and text links and they work well.
