From Perfect Sunset to Perfect View of Fireworks
... all from the end of my street. We were going to attempt to go to Hoboken or Manhattan to see the fireworks but late afternoon it already sounded like it was going to be crazy crowded, and we didn't feel like fighting crowds.

So, around sunset I headed up the street, and shot this:

Then about an hour later we headed back up the street and shot these:

I actually think we had the best view There are more photos, I'll link to them when I have a chance to resize and load them

Oh yeah, earlier in the day we shot this a mile from the house:

That is an Osprey mom taking lunch to her babies. I love where we live

    Nice pictures!

Firework pictures are the hardest to take. They never come out right.

These look great in this composition with the tall buildings, especially with the empire state building lit up in red-white-and-blue.

We recorded the fireworks on TV and I actually liked what we saw better, we had the city with the fireworks behind. A testament to my camera and lens, NYFalcon said we are 13 miles from Manhattan as the crow flies.

Fireworks take patience, skill, timing and luck

try leaving a long exposure if your camera gives you that option. it may be fun to experiment with that.

I was pretty excited that we could see the fireworks behind the skyline. They were actually on the West side in the Hudson river, so we have Brooklyn and Manhattan between us and the fireworks.
