Can I run the Linux version of WM on a server I can only access remotely?
    Hi,

I have a dedicated Linux server running CentOS that hosts my web site. I'd like to run the Linux version of WM directly on that server for two reasons:

    1. I use WebMerge to create 213,000 html pages. As you can imagine, those pages take a very long time to ftp to my server, even if I compress them. It would be much easier to just upload the merge file, and the template files, and have the process run directly on the server (perhaps in a non-production directory, and I'd copy them over after verifying them).
    2. That dedicated server has more memory than my Windows PC (4GB vs. 2GB).

That server sits in a data center, and I access it using SSH and Putty. I have root access. Can I run the Linux version of WM directly on the server from the command line, or do I need to use some GUI? What is your recommendation for how I would control WebMerge in such a scenario?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm about to leave for a couple days of R&R, but if you'll send me an email to support@fourthworld.com when I get back next week I'll discuss some options we're working on to address your workflow.

Thanks, and have a great weekend.

Hi - I did send an email. Maybe it got stuck in your spam filter?

No, I got it. The addresses I give out here for support are all white-listed.

It's been one heckuva week, but I should be able to clear the urgent things off my desk around Monday.

This didn't seem a critically urgent issue, but anytime you have anything time-sensitive you're welcome to call my direct toll-free line: 800-288-5825.

Have a great weekend - looking forward to speaking with you next week.
