My husband and I are going to be there most of next week at a conference.

We were wondering what there is to see and do that is really interesting there?

We are going to be staying at the Wyndham Milwaukee Center and we have Thurday totally open to do stuff and little bits of time here and there throughout the weekend.

    TIA!

The best single piece of advice I can give you, after being there for 20 some years, is go to Kopps Frozen Custard ... http://www.kopps.com/

    It's never let anyone down.

Other than that, the brewery tours and Harley-Davidson tours are interesting, and there is lots of ethnic food and a pretty diverse nightlife.

There's a pretty neat club called the Safe House pretty close to the Wyndham that is worth a trip ... http://www.safe-house.com/mainmenu.cfm

If you like to skate there is the Pettit Ice Center ... http://www.thepettit.com/flash.cfm

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. Is that kind of what you're looking for?

If you like fishing, the spring steelhead run should be starting on the local tributaries.

The tours Ed suggested are a good idea, too.

Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.

    Want to go fly fishing?

Thanks guys! The Safe House looks cool.

By the way, in addition to Thurday, we also have ThurSday off! *LOL*

    Any more suggestions are appreciated!

The Safe House is REALLY quite nice - great place to spend some time on a Thursday or Friday night!

Also, if you are into plants, be sure to check out the "domes" - which are basically 3 big domes full of various plants and such.

Isn't the Milwaukee Zoo supposed to be one of the best ones around? I would assume it's open in winter..maybe not.

The zoo is very good ... domes were never really my thing, but they are very popular, nonetheless.

    Here's another good one ... http://www.comedysportzmilwaukee.com/

It's an improv comedy competition / show. If you like watching "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" on TV, you'll like comedysportz, too.

What kind of things do you and the hubby like?
The art museum us quite the spectacle Museum. I also highly recommend the Sprecher Brewery tour if you are into micro's . Ed's right about comedy sportz being a hoot.. There is also the casino if you want to donate some of your money to help reduce my taxes :-)

    Hey Michelle,

Born and raised in Milwaukee and moving back this summer! Can't wait! Have to agree with abagoo -- nailed it with Kopps (you'll NEVER eat ordinary ice cream again) -- another good bet is Leons -- a little custard stand on the corner of South 27th and Oklahoma that's been there since the 1920s. (Out of town relatives make a beeline for this place when they visit.)

If you like ribs, Saz's on State Street (Saz's site) can't be beat.

The museum is a spectacle, but my mom went there and didn't care for it too much. The zoo is the #2 rated zoo in the country after San Diego's, but bring a warm coat if you are going in March -- or maybe shorts, you never know...

If you like shopping, the Grand Avenue mall is within walking distance of the Wyndham. (275 W. Wisconsin Ave) Plenty of Milwaukee-oriented shops there.

Milwaukee is a great town -- but March is obviously not the ideal time to visit. Hopefully you can come back in summer for all the weekly festivals!

Have fun, and have a little extra something at Kopps for me!

    Thanks again!

We plan on hitting the casino (got to get my fix! *LOL*)

Comedysportz looks like it would be right up our aisle too!

We have talked about the zoo and the museum and hubby found a link to an Advertising Museum type place that looks interesting. Covers the history of Advertising. Kopps is sounding good too.

Thanks a bunch for all the links and info! The resturant guide one will be very handy! The weather one too. Looks like we get half good, half ok weather. Works for me. Just so we don't get a ton of snow and ice! I have enough of that here! *LOL*
