Jackson's Other Legacy: A Savvy Estate Plan

For a guy who squandered millions, Michael Jackson did something surprisingly sensible before his death: He set up a smart estate plan.

Now thats a smart man....200 million over his debt right on his family unless they are total dingbats could do really really really well w/that money.
I attract success and abundance into my life because that is who I am.

Don't you think that maybe the lawyer that set it up was the smart guy instead of Jackson?

Well Jackson was smart enough to consult the lawyer

Write a will. A no-brainer? Actually, about two-thirds of Americans neglect to take on this basic estate-planning chore ...
I had a neighbor, an elderly woman, who died without a will. I wish she had named me the beneficiary instead her apartment and anything she owned of value went to the City.
The moral of the story is to check out the steps that Jackson did, it might help you plan your "estate." This is the way to be sure that the people who are important to you get what you wanted them to receive.

It's also good to have a health proxy. If for some reason [i.e. an automobile accident] you were not able to make decisions regarding your health, who would make them for you?

I always said Michael was a brilliant man. Maybe this will help others take a better look at their business arrangements, trust, wills, etc... and learn from Michael's wise decisions and be better prepared should tragedy strike.

Most of the Jackson Family are great entertainers. Many people forget, they are also very wise in the business side of it all.

Michael was an entertainer, a humanitarian and a businessman.

He left 20% to charity. That sounds just like him. Always thinking of the less fortunate.

Or his business manager (most likely John McClain, mentioned in the article) sent him to an estate lawyer, or a family member (mother?) who didn't want to be left in the cold, with the kids to care for.
