Can affiliates put the tracking code for a merchant in the web page setting for google adwords, so it doesnt go to your site first, but will go directly to the merchants site? I guess that is redirecting?

I assume this is legal and such?

I notice this on google adwords.
    Thanks

It's a common practice but best to get the merchant's approval first.

Obviously it is a brillant "tricks for Clicks" move as it negates even having to fool with learning how to build a shopper friendly web page to showcase a merchant strengths and offerings. It eliminates the requirement you have to know english or have product knowledge to sell to USA audiences is you only need to learn keywords like Walmart coupon -Barbie Doll -IBM A-30 Thinkpad -Seiko watches -Sony Vaio are popular search terms.

If you use the cheap 2nd tier PPCSE's you get to see you links appear on BHO search bars and POS SE hjacking popups. SEM is a skill set allowing any common thief to participate in affiliate marketing.

Actually, I don't think you can put a redirect to another page, you have to make a page that will show in the google sized frame and link to that. THAT can contain a banner or text links that then can be clicked on to go to a merchant.

And whether you are redirecting or not, you have to clearly spell out 'Affiliate' in your display ad if you are an affiliate.
