These were my pre-season picks (see them here, with details). I'm pretty happy with most of them, except for Cleveland and Arizona:

    American League:
Division series - Los Angeles (W) over Tampa (WC) and Boston (E) over Cleveland (C)
Championship Series - Boston over Los Angeles

The only change I'd make today would be Minnesota instead of Clevelend.

    National League:
Division series - Los Angeles (W) over Milwaukee (C) and Philadelphia (E) over Arizona (WC)
Championship Series - Philadelphia over Los Angeles

The only change I'd make today would be St. Louis for the wild card, and unless Philadelphia makes a deal for Halladay, I'll take the Dodgers over the Phillies to take on the Red Sox in the WS.

My 'Stros are a second half team.

    Playing St. Louis right now.

Won by a hair last nite.

    CRAP!

DeRosa just banged one out of here as we speak.

I'll put a buck on my boys, as we don't normally hit the all-star break at 500.

    Takers?

They sure are, and they are having a great run. Cecil Cooper has done a fabulous job with a team the "experts" gave no chance to. Like with just about every team, pitching is their key, and if they get continued strong performances from Oswalt, Wandy Rodríguez, and Russ Ortiz, and the rest of their starters, have one of their committee of relievers step up and take over the closer's role (Astros are second only to Washington in blown saves in the NL), and get Berkman back healthy, they will make it a four-team race in the central.

My little bro who lives in Big Bear CA called earlier to get some Astros love.

He went to the Houston @ Dodgers game the other night and was happy.

He's a transplant, but still loves our team.

I'd like to see them make a move too, but nothing is more irritating than watching them melt down in the first half.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

I only know one thing fer sure, as a life-long Cardinals fan -- St. Louis never has figured it out that PITCHING wins ballgames.

Well, I mean waaay back when, they understood pitching with Bob Gibson and way before that Dizzy Dean. But in recent decades, the Cards always fold sooner or later when it comes to pitching.

    *sigh*

With Pujols in the line up, they can get a little cocky.

That guy scares the crap out of me.

Best ball player I have ever seen in my 47 years.

Let's not forget that the Brew Crew has the Home Run Champ on their team and he is heating up...raised his BA over .300 AFTER the derby!
MIL will win the NL Central

I see Milwaukee and Houston both likely to end the Cards' playoff hopes. Maybe the Cards will hang on for the WC. But, even with Pujols, what can I say?

    PITCHING!!

As a Buccos fan, my only remaining question is which members of our starting roster will make the playoffs this year.

    Elsewhere.

I picked the Brewers to win the central before the start of the season, and am sticking with them. Fielder is great, but the guy that is about to get hot and have a monster final two months, is Ryan Braun. With that one-two punch, they will compensate a lot for a starting staff ERA of around 5.00.

Freddy Sanchez has been the guy mentioned most often, especially in a possible deal with the Giants, but with the emergence of Garret Jones, I think Adam LaRoche may be the first to go to a contender. RemodelingGuy - Maybe to Houston if Berkman is going to me out for any considerable length of time.

Just heard that he's been dealt to Boston.

Edit to add: Just looked up the details - Pirates get Double-A shortstop Argenis Diaz and Class-A right-hander Hunter Strickland, but Boston also gets Andy LaRoche.

Yes, well, at least it's something moderately amusing to fill the days until the REAL sport season starts -- football. (I'm talkin' AMERICAN football here, not some sissy soccer stuff.

Football ceased to exist following the 1994 season.

Baseball and basketball are all that matter.

I read it on Yahoo Sports but apparently they had it wrong, and have changed their report to no longer say that Andy was in the trade.
