    Banner Designer
Need to get banners made up for a new program and need to find a good affordable designer. The only name that seems to come up in previous posts is AlexBet, was wondering if there are others that can be recommended.

Looking for a full inventory of non-flash banners including the 6 or 7 main sizes, 6 or 7 categories each, with another 3-5 minor variations for sub categories.

Am not absolutely positive but think Auggie (is one of the artists at Loxly's Gallery) Think (again am not 100% positive but think he's made somethings here for the individual forums) Loxly or somebody will probably see this and provide more info. Pretty sure he's listed under Loxly's "Meet the artists" in her forum here.

Bill, if you want to send me an email, I can give you the contact info for 2 people. email me at dc at loxlygallery.com

Auggie is great, but if he is booked I have a second that might be available. The problem with good affordable graphics designers is that they are always in demand and BUSY, lol.

For a merchant, making your own banners isn't a great idea unless you are very good at it. Hiring a pro will get much better results faster than DIY.

    A Pro???

    Have to start somewhere.

I've never spent a nickel for anyone to do any design on my sites.

That may NOT be a good thing, but........

I still think it is a good thing for folks to learn how to do things on their own.

It's freaking " mental masturbation " to try things over and over again, adjusting this and that a bazillion times, but one day, you accidentally find something that works and let it ride........

    DIY ?????

If you can afford to hire out, go for it...

If not, you have to depend on yourself.

Thanks again guys and gals! Didn't mean to get another post war started hahaha!

I actually have the skill set to make the banners, amazing what one can learn after 12-years running an online store. I just don't have the time to create an opening inventory of a 100 or so new banners.

Gotta agree with Jimmy - kind of.

I used to do EVERYTHING myself. I am a fairly good photographer and that's what really helped my travel sites grow over the years. All images are my own - even sites with several hundred photos.

But I did all of my own graphics and overall design and managed to "get by." Then two and a half years ago I hired AlexBet.com to create a new skin for one of my (niche) sites. Immediately after re-skinning the entire site the page views increased by 20% with the same number of visitors. I saw the change the very next day!!! Then I watched the visitor count improve over time - people setting bookmarks, returning for another visit, recommending to others? Don't know for sure, but it worked.

Result - I hired Alex to do two more important sites for me. His "professional" work paid for itself in short order and I will continue to reap the rewards of that decision to use a professional.

Well, then again, there's that option!

Getting someone that actually knows what they are doing may be a good idea.

And a reminder that there is a difference between an affiliate "doing it all" themselves, which most do, and a *merchant* doing it all, when they might not have the time or skills. Bill makes a good point that getting 100 or so banners made isn't something *he* needs to be spending time on when in the midst of a product or site launch.

Just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you *should* do something I didn't intend to ruffle feathers, just pointing out when hiring a pro is the right thing to do.

Bill just proved that in a PM to me.

He has a couple of sites that he shared with me that I couldn't possibly do on my own.

Crisp, Gorgeous and easy to navigate.

The great thing about discussion, is that even dorks like me can be proven wrong....

    Jimmy,

You should search the site review forum for that thread to see the changes - it's a night and day difference. Sometimes the lipstick just looks odd on the pig, real makeovers can work wonders.

Edit to add: Geez, every time I read a thread and respond to a specific post I always come in late to the discussion that has happened. NM sorry.

Very true...although I hate the thought of spending $1500 on banners when I just know they don't convert and will never recoup the outlay. I know affiliates have high hopes of banners converting but the stats say otherwise, you are lucky to get 1 click in 200 impressions.

Take a look at my site and throw some figures at me.

There's a big difference between what I have and what a pro can do.

Bill has a guy that is REALLY reasonable and I have touched base with.
