This company is going to get a lot more than a $50,000 loss in bad press.

They are quoted as saying: "We are a sue first, ask questions later company."

Gee, sounds like we should have moved into one of their places rather than our new home

Was reading about this this morning.

Her Tweet was poorly worded, saying that a realtor thought sleeping in a moldy apartment was ok, but it might be out of context.

A tweet is really just part of a conversation. It's interesting though that this suit would sort of indicate that each tiny 140 character piece of that conversation can be scrutinized for defamation.

Let's say you had to split a thought over 2 tweets. Guess you better be careful how each reads.

One commenter there said that now instead of 20 followers knowing about it, they now have millions of readers knowing that the apartment may have mold.

Real smart move by the company, think it may backfire. lol

Yeah, some of these things backfire, where someone brings a suit but they're bringing more negative attention to themselves where maybe they should have just let it slide. Reminds me of that one pet store that sued some people over some negative comments readers left about them in a forum, not the brightest move.

It really amazes me how little people understand about followers, following, and social networks.

People with 20 friends saying something means almost nothing unless it goes massively viral. Probably 12 or 15 of those people didnt even notice the post before it went off their wall or page.

I help a company with their corporate twitter account. They told me that they ONLY wanted to follow about 50 people as they didn't want a lot of clutter on their homepage. We are having a dialogue about why those accounts are called social networks and why people like Zappos and Obama are popular.

If Obama or Demi Moore twitter about your company good or bad it means one thing. If somebody with a tiny account does it means much, much less.

And the negative publicity will be terrible. But real estate companies seem to love it sometimes.

I would have to find the article but I think it was like the son of the founder who said that. I am pretty sure it was a family member.

I mean really...sue first ask questions later?

Who the heck would want to live in one of their places?
