    If I may ask;

    When its time to launch a new web site, is it better take a great idea for a web site and find affiliates that match the theme of your new site or would you look for great affiliates and build a site around it?

    I think he means merchants not affiliates. If you mean affiliates then that doesn't make sense.

    Either way works, but you really need both the chicken and the egg. A good idea without a good merchant won't make any money. A bad idea with a good merchant won't make much money.

    I tend to think it's best to find a good idea first. There are tons of merchants out there, so odds are you'll be able to find a good one for just about any idea.

    I highly recommend you do a mixture of both. That's what I have done and it seems to work. Some of my sites are targeted at one merchant and some have several merchants listed.

    One thing that has occured though when I targeted one merchant on a site - they just got deactivated at CJ so I may have to re-adjust the site if they don't become re-activated again. Obviously this can occur so make sure you lay several eggs in case one of your chicks die. hmmm.....

    I think I solved the riddle...COUPONS.

    "When its time to launch a new web site, is it better take a great idea for a web site and find affiliates that match the theme of your new site or would you look for great affiliates and build a site around it?"

    Sounds like the guy studied Google search results for weeks and he thinks everything points to COUPONS.

    Great ideas =coupons
    Merchants=coupons
    Affiliate marketing=coupons
    SE listings=coupons
    All those popups on his screens =coupons
    great affiliates=coupons
    only way to get affiliates=coupons
    site theme must=coupons

    The poor guy must think affiliate marketing and affiliates are all blurred together under the theme coupons.

    Just a question... what does any of this have to do with coupons? Not to start anything.

    I typically start with keywords. Then I build it and then find merchants. But it's always good to make sure there are good merchants before buying a domain I would think.

    Dunno, I'm new.

    Nothing, you'll find out that Mike does this a lot, post something in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with the thread. I'm suprised he didn't copy and paste some news story about undercover CIA operations looking into coupon sites.

    I thought it was a tricky riddle. Only answer I could come up with was Coupons.
