I recently changed some pages of my site over from .html to .php and I have a question.

Alot of these pages are in the search results under the .html name.

What is the best way to forward the .html to the .php pages so when someone clicks on the .html results they got to the .php pages automatically?

no idea what the best way is but you might try a 301 redirect.

I figured out a basic solution using htaccess, with some help down in the php forum.

    Thanks!

    hey michelle,

Have you tried using an .htaccess file (of if you have apache handler or mime type setting in your cpanel) to parse .html files?

Open notepad, and paste the following text into the first line:
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .html

Save a file as .htaccess (not .htaccess.txt). You may have to save it as .txt and rename it afterwards.

FTP this file into your root directory and you can now use php codes in all your .html files and it will parse them.

Careful not to destroy your existing .htaccess file if you have one running already.

See if this works if you don't want to lose the old SE's indexing of your .html files.
