    5 Green Bars!
I am not normally one for shameless self promotion but after 7 years of hard work, learning and applying, I woke up this morning to see that fifth and final green bar in the CJ Account Manager. It is a great feeling! (And I owe most of it to ABW so thanks everyone! Sorry, I am keeping the money but am willing to share the bar)

Very cool! I wonder what the criteria are for receiving that 5th bar. I've been sitting at 4 for a long time.

    Congrats Dave!

I got my five bars last month too. However, got to say that when I first started out I sat at $16 commish in my account for months or was it years, and I was going to close off CJ acct since I was not doing well. So, don't give up. Just found good merchants and created a new site. Now, just have to rinse and repeat, and add more manpower.

So what does it mean? Nothing really, you just get more merchants pestering to join their programs. I mainly shoot for $$ per day and not look at the bars. Diversifying I learned is also important. So need to work on that more.

What was interesting is I did a search last month to see what it exactly meant and how it was quantified but can't seem to find the link here on abestweb. There were many of them though that talked about the 5 bar tiered commission structure.

From what I read it seemed that:

0 bar = No commissions Earned (blank)
    1 bar = 39th Percentile and Below
    2 bars = 40-59th Percentile
    3 bars = 60-79th Percentile
    4 bars = 80-94th Percentile
    5 bars = 95th Percentile and above

Also, from somewhere I found that this is approximated to... (??)

    5 bars ~ > $1000.00 commissions per month
    4 bars ~ > $350.00? "
    3 bars ~ > $100? "
    2 bars ~ > $50? "
    1 bar ~ > $0.01? "
    0 bar = 0

Congrats! No matter what the current level is to get the bars, it's still exciting to see them all lit up

"Way back when" I hit 5 bars for a few months. It was exciting and I think I even did a screenshot

Then the programs I was making money with closed or have done other nefarious things plus when I started managing programs I let my affiliate sites languish... I had pretty niche specific sites that are kinda hard to monetize

    Well done there!

    I think 5 bars is over 6 - 7 k a month!

At one point, the threshold between 4 bars and 5 bars was around $2500. Since 5-bar basically just means that you're in the top 5% of active CJ affiliates, it varies from month to month. I haven't seen any numbers posted lately, so who knows what it is now. Dave probably has a good idea, but I doubt he wants to share.

    Congrats on the accomplishment, Dave!

The US Minimum Wage is $1200/mo for a full time worker. If the data below is true; then over 95% of CJ affiliates don't make minimum wage.

Also not all affiliates do aff marketing full time. For part time affiliates, $1000 per month the side isn't really bad.

True, when I first started, I was happy making that extra $200 a month to go along with the job I already had.

Two bad assumptions: You're assuming that people work full time at affiliate marketing and that their only source of income is CJ.
