    Remember ?
Remember the days when the word Google was not interchangeable with internet? Or when every site seemed to have a Netscape icon on it? Or when Flash was still something you cleaned your floor with? Then you were clearly using the web in the mid to late 1990s when pages were rudimentary affairs containing lists of links and information.

Thanks to the waybackmachine internet archive, we're still able to see some of the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 pioneers looked in their earliest incarnations.

AOL sign up disks in the mail every other day?

People didn't know what identity theft was?

Spamming was still an acceptable marketing tool?

    800x600 screen resolution?

I still have a fondness for the old Usenet of 94 or so. I think the first version I used was command driven.

Yeah, but it got so swamped with spam a while back that it wasn't worth it.

    800x600? how about 640x400?

And computers without a hard drive at all.....

When I bought my first PC (I was a commodore 64/128 junkie) I said "Will 10 MEGS be enough?" The answer: "You'll never fill it."

GR - AV Rawcked - They are the reason I succeeded in the beginning.

They loved my site, I could get any keyword listed in the top 3 fast and I ruled in just about everything I wanted to.

    SEO just sucks now.

I remember having to hit "refresh" every other second in chatrooms in order to see what the next person posted. I also remember PowWow.. are they still around? Well, I answered my own question. Seems they are not.

I just finished Seth Godin's "The Purple Cow" - written in 2002. Page 119 lists Interbrands top 100 brands for 2002. Google is not on the list! And this was only 7 years ago - things change fast. Wonder who will be on the list in 2020...ABW???

Neon orange *or* neon green monitors. That was multicolour (black/orange).

Recently I changed my DSL provider and had to wait 2 (looooooooong) weeks to get the new provider. I used call-by-call 56k dial up during those 2 weeks. I kept thinking, "no wonder you used to be on the computer for hours, it took that long to load your mails!"
