Typical from the lying bastards that is the Spam industry. As far as I know, they haven't yet had to prove the truthfulness of their statement about the recipient having "opted in."

When these jerks and others like OptInRealBig are called before a judge, there would be no courtroom large enough to hold those willing to testify against them.

By the way, anyone heard any more about the NY lawsuit against the OptInRealBig spammers? No sign of activity on the AG's website. Any truth to the rumor that the trial will be held in Yankee Stadium?

I've gotten a number of these as well, I'm guessing it's a fake adress or drop box. Isn't part of the CAN-SPAM law that they also include a working phone number?

It looks like these spammers don't understand the CAN-SPAM Act.

    1) Even if they complied with the act (which it sounds like they didn't), that doesn't mean it isn't spam. The act just REGULATES what can be done (for both spam AND solicited commercial email).

    2) Extracting addresses from the web are restricted by the act.

    3) A phone number is not required. A "physical postal address" (whatever that means) is required.

    4) The act doesn't require opt-in, although a couple minor requirements are eliminated for opt-in members.
