names4ever and aplus.net are both owned by the same company.

aplust.net has been mining the ICANN newly registered domain name list and contacting (phoning) people who register new domain names (including people who did not register through names4ever) and trying to sell them hosting, etc.

ICANN has been notified by numerous individuals and companies and supposedly appropriate action will be taken.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Glad I transferred my names out of there after a lousy customer service experience!

I posted this originally on WHT. What a bunch of scumbags. They tried to attack me because I would not mention the domain in question - like that made a difference.

They even ignored the federal do not call list and were supremely arrogant about doing it. Enough so, they had one of their employees pretend not to be an employee and attack me over it.

Here is a snippet of my chat with them:

2004-03-02 11:53:35: Visitor83903: nope, purchased it from another company
2004-03-02 11:53:56: abe: two is if you registered somehwere else if you would be looking for a hosting company to host your site
2004-03-02 11:54:15: Visitor83903: do you call everyone who registers a name?
2004-03-02 11:54:25: Visitor83903: must keep you guys busy
    2004-03-02 11:54:33: abe: not everyone
2004-03-02 11:54:43: abe: just the english speaking ones
2004-03-02 11:55:42: Visitor83903: even though i am on the do not call list?

I seriously think aplus.net is run by a bunch of kids.

    Chet,

I went over there and read the thread and I think your right! Heck, he even said he is still covered by daddy's insurance! *LOL*

From the people I spoke with on the phone yesterday, aplus.net/names4ever have some pretty big & serious playing businesses rallying ICANN and a few other avenues and won't stop until this is taken care of to the furthest extent possible.

Yes, I also received 3 phone calls in two days - the genius didn't realize he already called me once... or he was just really out to "get" me as a client. Yeah, right, as if I'd do business that way....
I am curious to see what happens with them.

Yeah, that kids response to the whole thing was priceless. He had no idea how poorly he was coming off.

I have a wildwest account, and purchase in bulk from myself, you can lower the buy rate down to under $6.50 a domain and then you have more control in your own system. And what the heck, put up a page selling domanis and you can make some more. I make between $2-300 a month with my wildwest site, and i never touch, never do anything but click on the links when they have new promotions.

One of the worst registrars I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
