Parse Error, Site Down, Can't Login - How To Fix?
Was editing a theme for one of my wordpress sites then got this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/themes/cordobo-green-park-2/functions.php on line 290

So I see that now when I go to mysite.com or when I try to login to wordpress. So I can't fix it thru wordpress. I can get into Cpanel. I tried Live Help at Hostgator and they said

(5:22:01 PM) Michael Wa: If you are not sure what you are doing I would suggest getting someone who made the theme to help you or someone who knows PHP.
(5:22:07 PM) Michael Wa: Either that or try starting over from a new wordpress.

Is there anyway to fix this thru cpanel?

I use the same theme for one of my blogs.

Download the same theme to your pc and ftp functions.php to /home/xxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/themes/cordobo-green-park-2/

If you have modified/customized functions.php, first rename the current one before ftping.

If worse comes to worse can I just delete the wordpress and start over? It's something I just started on so not much work lost, no posts or anything.

Unless it made a change in the database, you should be able to reload the whole theme over actually. Or yes, you can delete the installation and start over. If it's something that was stored in the database though, you need a fresh database.

    Alright, thanks for your help.

I deleted the theme from cpanel, then was able to log back into wordpress and pick a new one.

Wasn't sure where to go in CPanel

File Manager or Legacy File Manager then didn't know which directory to go to

    # Home Directory
    # Web Root (public_html/www)
    # Public FTP Root (public_ftp)
    # Document Root for:

and then with hostgator it can be

    newsite

    or is it

    newsite.first.com

since they make new ones subdomain

    anybody know?

Your Cpanel probably has Fantastico. Did you install WP with the Fantastico script? If so, it was a one click installation. Go to the same place and it is a one click uninstall of WP.

Yep, used Fantastico. Luckily I got it working again, using another theme. Had a problem like this once before and one of the people from HostGator went in and fixed it for me. Something I need to learn to do on my own.
