What is your home page in your browser?
I woke up this morning to see that Google had changed the way that my home paged looked on startup in Chrome.

It was so clean before, with only three snapshots across. Now it's four, text links and the recently closed column spread out across the bottom. Sigh, sometimes things just need to stay the same.

I have thought off and on about making my own home page with just exactly what I want on it and this just may be what finally pushes me to do it. And guess what? I would be "in control"! lol

Have any of you done that?

Not quite the same as 'A' homepage but my startup Firefox tabs are - CNN, Local Newspaper, CJ, LS, SAS, Google for searching, my email, ABW, HostGator, my bank, Google stuff - Webmaster, AdSence, and Analytics

When I start Firefox, I go down the list and know it all.

I used to do tabs like that but with still being on dialup, it took too long even for just the first one to load. Plus I need less clutter in the mornings!

Right now, just MSN. Probably could be something better, just never got around to it. Stuff like igoogle or http://www.netvibes.com/#General or http://www.pageflakes.com/ or make your own.

I've been workin' on making my own off and on today. Something similar to pageflakes, I guess, with lots of cool little widgets and snapshots of my most visited websites. I'll be a much happier camper tomorrow, when I'm in control! muu hahahahaha

I have it save all the last tabs I had open. If for some reason that crashes and burns, I have ABW, Shareasale, and a couple of my sites open up.

Google, email, twitter and whatever site I am trying to compete with at the time.

I use to have a custom start page but it became too much work changing out links.

I wanted to put ABW in a RSS widget but I don't see a way to do that unless I subscribe to Feedburner or use an online reader. Is that correct? I want to see the latest 10 posts.

That was going to be my suggestion so on dial-up you can get a quick start. Then you can go where you want.

Myself I'm with Loxly and let my Firefox tabs save where I leave off the night before.

First: I still don't use FF, yet...

    Second:

    BTW...

If the morning after, you can't remember from where you left the night before... - Are you sure you want to auto-go back, directly there?

    Jimmy,

A little while After I finally left AOL many years ago, I learned that I don't have to have anyone else's crap on my home page.

    For example:

If I have all of the sites that I want to visit first thing when I go online bookmarket, why should I make my home page one site or another?...

Should I make my home page from a search engine? - Which one?
Should I make my home page from one of my sites? - Which one?
Should I make my home page from one of the networks? - Which one?
Should I make my home page from one of my merchants? - Which one?
Should I make my home page from one of the news sites? - Which one?
Should I make my home page from one of my personal interests? - Which one?

    Why???

Btw, for the last six years, ABW is usually one of the first places where I first go online everyday, right after I check my emails, and sometimes even before I look at my stats everywhere I might be making money...

So, if I don't even put ABW as my home page, --- Why should I put anyone else there?

I have created my own ritual on anywhere I would normaly go on a daily basics, it's just a click away from my Taskbar, or from my favorites bookmark links, for everything else...

I like my about:blank home page!

I created my own page with a table of my most visited links to check stats, get SEO info, etc. Also has google, yahoo, and MSN search boxes.

Depends on the browser, but for my main one (Firefox) I startup with:
    • Gmail
    • Hoot Suite
    • fastdial
    • Google calendar
    • Google reader
    • ebay
    • ABW new posts
    • ABW admin.

My fast dial screen has 24 sites, financial, admin panels, news and other AM related sites

    how is Google Chrome?
I use Chrome for two reasons. It loads much much quicker for me than Firefox or IE. And I love that my tabs are at the very top of my screen. I have a small laptop and I need all the free space that I can get from my browser. If I could get rid of that top bar in FF and get it to load faster, I might go back to it.

I'm loving my new homepage that I made. I have 12 snapshots of my most visited sites, plus a feed of WMW. There's still room for one or two more rows of snapshots and still another blank column. Lots of white space! So, I have to thank Google for making that change. :>)
