If you were just starting an Affiliate Marketing Program
If you were just starting an Affiliate Marketing (as an advertiser), or if you had the chance to do it all over again, what network would you go with:

    1. CJ
    2. LinkShare
    3. Azoogle
    4. ?

Also, in short, why?, what would you do differently now?

I am thankful for any insights you can provide!

For a larger merchant with a larger budget, CJ. For a smaller merchant, ShareASale. For CPA-style offers, I wouldn't necessarily go with Azoogle, though they're a good choice for some specific verticals in the CPA world. I'd only recommend CPA networks if you have a CPA style offer rather than a traditional offer, and I'd recommend knowing your stuff about how affiliates promote the offer, and what you're comfortable with. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend jumping into any network alone, without help of an OPM or consultant if you don't have experience launching a program.

As Joshua noted, it depends on a lot of factors, so hooking up with a consultant is a good idea.

I posted my advice on this topic two years ago, and it hasn't much changed:

Shoppers determine what has value and they like coupons. Stop manipulating who set the cookie just because you do not like coupon and promotional sites.

my thoughts are similar to Joshua's on CJ and ShareASale. As an affiliate, I prefer CJ's interface a bit more than shareasale - graphically I think it's visually easier to find merchants and compare them, but that is my personal opinion. Shareasale is much more budget friendly and most affiliates that are in one are in the other.

I'd also look at what other companies are in each network that may compliment or compete with yours. If your offering is a lot different or very similar to a competitor is it better to be in a different network so you're not "compared" simply on the metrics showing in each program.

I think you need to look at what you're trying to accomplish with your program too. Datafeeds are really nice in shareasale and not so easily available in CJ so if you are going to be offering a datafeed you might consider that.

Start up costs and ongoing commissions vary a bit too. Chart out pros and cons and voila

    Good luck with your decision.

You guys are awesome! Everyone of your responses added value to my quest. It seems that jumping in here in not the way to go. Think I'll sit up straight, dig into the info on A Best, and try to navigate the mine fields until I see a path to my goal.

    Thanks mucho!
