I've noticed that when I upload an image via WP admin and re-size it saves the original with the smaller one. Anyone know the reason for this? Seems like a lot of wasted server space to me, but I'm sure WP has a good reason.

Some people may want to only show a thumbnail in their post but have it link out to the original so somebody could see the full size image.
