When you post a link you can also scroll down and uncheck the box that says "Automatically parse links" Then it won't convert to a live link.

I split this out and stickied it, but there are a lot of stickies in Midnight Cafe already.... so maybe will just leave it for a couple of days...

Glad to have pointed out a useful feature, and one that I actually forget to use when posting html that we want affiliates to be able to copy and paste.

What the heck was the original thread? LOL

I got the email saying there was a reply and I usually remember the threads I subscribe to, but this one has my lost

For the record, I did not know this either...I have always wanted to know how to do this! Sometimes I want to link to a site without actually linking to them (say an example of a bad design or something).

    Thanks Lox!

P.S. Now as I finish typing this I notice it was from October of LAST YEAR!

I'm still posting since I just learned this...or did I learn it before and forget it? Who knows

    question? i don't know squat,yet!!
is this a way to post a link without being a live link. would it not break the rules of the game.

wasn't there a link for folks to check your site? I am sure it would be better to hit the vets on a private message,so they could do it, but i still have a while to go before that can happen.

Can you clarify what you are asking? There are times when we need to post code for affiliates to copy (an example of a link to a merchant that you would copy and put their own id in) or a link that we don't want to be a live link.

And newcomers do not have PM privileges so not sure what that statement is about either.

never mind loxly. When i figure out what I want to say I will ask again. I am just confused to where one would post an unlinked link.

never mind the other statements. i just wanted someone with experience to check my site and give some input.

You can post your site in the Site Review forum if you want feedback on your site.
