wow, just got this wierd email I don't know if it spam or what?

quote:
Hi there! Sorry for an e-mail out of the blue, but I just did a search for the term christian movie reveiws on Google and found ranked 11. Since I publish a related website about Entertainment - Movies (it's strictly informational, so I'm definitely NOT a competitor of yours), I'd like to link to your site.

My site is one of the best resources for info in our category (I think you'll see that my site is pretty clean and high quality, and I only request to link to other quality sites for exchange). Because of this great info, I get a pretty decent amount of if I link to you, your site should get some nice traffic as well.

So you know, I've already linked to you and will keep it there for a few days until I hear from you. If you're interested in swapping links for good, please reply back so I can get you all of the pertinent information.

neat way of wording it. could be very legit. sounds better than some I get where they don't even look to see if I have a page to reciprocate on. (I usually don't.)

if the data matches, the site looks good, the place is there within one link of the main page where they could link to you, you could go for it for a while. but you know you have to check back again later a few times to make sure the link is still up.

check the PR in google, too, to see if it is worth it for you.

I got one almost identical to it today. Figured it was spam, but well done spam.

I reply "NO THANK YOU! to every one of thse obviously "form letter" spam messages. When they send the identical one the next day, I threaten them with a Can-Spam complaint and a call to their IP.

I get several per day. Some nitwit will send a message saying how our bicycle touring site is such a good fit with their psychic casino network and how linking to their no-page-rank site will drive hordes of traffic to my site. Spam, even well done, is still spam.

I got one almost identical to yours (except the subject was maple trees and gardening) about two weeks ago.

    Never bothered responding.

I delete these without reading them, that one sounds almost like they went to your site. My clue that they haven't been to most of my sites that they request a link from is that they ARE links directories and have Top Sites sections where people can add their links themselves. So either they never went to the site, or are too lazy to add their link themselves! Sometimes if I am in the mood, I reply and point them to the page to add their link. They don't.

I got some of those a few months ago.

Weird thing is, the search terms are always really offbeat!

The one in this thread seems a lot less offbeat, but if you look closely...

    "christian movie reveiws"

You see that even this one is not going for a standard search term, but a misspelling.

I didn't give a link when I got the request, but I must wonder about the reasoning behind picking people who are ranking highly under hardly-searched-for terms!
