October 28th, 2009, 01:03 PM #1Add Fields to Comment Form on WordPress 2.8.x
When you submit a comment on WordPress, your asked to fill in Name, Mail, and Website. I would like to include one or two more. Anyone have a tutorial on how to do this?
Off the top of my head, I would have to edit comments.php, wp-comment-post.php and add field(s) to wp_comments table, and probably some other php file I am forgetting.
A tutorial would be nice though.

Hey Seymour, what is the ultimate goal with the extra fields? Do you want them to be displayed in the post along with the user's name/link?
I was having a look through the plugin repository and couldn't find how a plugin for doing this automatically. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/comment
So now I'm intrigued and will have to figure it out and then write it up.

I have still been searching for a plugin, but one doesn't exist for 2.8 version of WordPress. WordPress 2.9 may have this built into it, but I am not sure about that yet.

That would be sweet if it was wrapped in to 2.9.
BTW - I haven't forgotten about this. I thought I was going to be able to finish it yesterday. Should get to it this evening.
