    Convert Website to WordPress?
Let's say you have a website you built that has a few hundred pages. Is there any tool/utility that would allow you to create a page in wordpress for each page on your website?

Is your current site custom-built or does it use a widely-available platform? If the former, is it a collection of static pages or is the content stored in a database?

I don't know if you've already seen this but wordpress.org has some tips for importing from various systems: http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content

The RSS import looks the most promising for bringing in all-purpose content.

I've been mulling around the same idea. Haven't seen a tool, but while this tutortial isn't "automatic", it looked doable, that is, if your current site is well-organized: http://jestro.com/convert-xhtml-css-to-wordpress/ (works for html).

Actually, I did find something that can help automate the conversion of HTML to WP: http://www.themespress.com/ . You can use their online demo to see if it produces the template you want—if it does, it'll cost you only $10 to get the code.

IMHO - Why would you want to convert to WP ?

First thing that is going to happen is that once your WP pages get indexed, they will be penalized for duplicate content...

I'm living that dumb ass move as we speak...

If you only have a few hundred pages, you should add them to your blog manually, changing text, headers, urls, <descrip> etc.

That way it gets indexed as two seperate entities...

Search engines will show the love and you will reap the benefits of a few hundred hours of work ... If it takes that long.

    Not true at all.

You have to know how to work the WP pages.

That is why you have plugins to disallow the duplicate content or you can also manually add in script to dynamically change metas.

Regarding changing over a static site to WP, the impt part is to make sure that your pages bookmarks, indexed pages, get redirected properly from oldpages.html to .. /newpages-post/
