What happens when someone clicks 2 affiliate's links?
Let's say someone clicks on an affiliate's link at his website and goes to merchant X's website. Later he comes to my website and clicks my affiliate link and goes to the same merchant's website and buys a product. Who gets the commission?

What would happen if someone clicked lots of affiliate's links and decided to buy a product a week later by going directly to merchant X's website?

    Thanks in advance.

    Most times, last click wins.

As for your second question, depends upon the length of the merchants cookie, but again, most times last click wins.

The last click gets awarded the sale. There are a few merchants that do things differently, but they're very rare.

In this case, Coley had the last click, so he wins.

Well, no, Kevin...you now have the "last click" - so you win.

Uh-oh, wait one moment - seems like yet another click has entered the stream...

Samael8, now that you've heard that the last click usually wins, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on that? In this case, you'd be happy, because you're last. What if you're first? What would you like to see if you had any say in it?

I liked the last click wins system so I wouldn't change it. But I'm a newbie so there may be better alternatives which I'm not aware of.

It would be technically very difficult to have any kind of sharing take place, but that would be nice as each affiliate was theoretically a link in the chain to the sale.

However, the final affiliate was the 'closer' for the deal, and that seems to be the way things are dealt with in offline sales as well, so it makes sense.

None of that matters because the pixel didn't fire so nobody got paid.

It was an "Existing customer that accidently picked up your code while surfing the net".
