    I'm looking for affiliates
Can I post the names of merchants here and ask for people to reply or PM me if they are an affiliate?

Honestly, I'm looking to give them some business.

I have a site with mostly user-generated content. It's a wish list site.

A lot of times, users will add links to merchants that I have been rejected by (it's ok, I'm over it now).

I thought it would be magnanimous on my part to seek out affiliates of these merchants and hand them the sale. (I mean, I'm not getting the commission anyway, so why not spread a little goodwill?)

    Is this allowed?

I don't think people here would be interested in doing that.

And, you can't send or receive PMs here until you have 250 quality post.

I wouldn't recommend it. If the merchants declined your site, another affiliate who allows their links to be used on your site would risk getting declined by the merchant as well.

I would recommend reaching out to the merchants that declined you.

bdunklau didn't break any rules. He asked if it was allowed and did not make any link drops. We answered his questions.

That was my first thought when I read DPaco's post, but then I realized that he may have been suggesting not breaking the merchant and network rules (which he may have assumed was why bdunklau was rejected with some merchants).

Could be. I didn't think about that.

Smile I didn't get rejected because I was breaking the rules...
I filled out an application to various merchants and for one reason or another they decided not to accept me.

Most likely because I'm a small-time player that they've never heard of.

My site is also 95% password-protected so a merchant can't see a whole lot without actually registering and giving up their (gasp!) email address.

If I were able to generate a commission for someone that I wouldn't earn anyway, seems like a cheap way to build good will and get my name out there.

I understand everyone's cynism, but don't look here.

As an affiliate manager I almost always decline a site that is password protected. Just FYI.

I'm going to close this thread. It's out-lived it's usefulness.
