# CJ 5-bar Merchants Status

1. CJ 5-bar Merchants Status
I often look at the green bar for a quick glance to see the status of a merchant before promoting but details are more in the numbers, 7 day and 3 month EPC.

I find this handy and wished that other networks would have this too.

However, I was just curious as to how the bars are calculated.

I have a slight idea how this works for the affiliate bars, but is it the same for merchants?

For example the 2 merchants below are both 4 bar merchants but their stats are different.

Both merchants are 4 bars

Merchant 1:
\$7.48 ( 3 month EPC ) ....... \$10.11 ( 7 day EPC ) ------> 4 bars

Merchant 2:
\$65.73 ( 3 month EPC ) ....... \$103.22 ( 7 day EPC ) ------> 4 bars

Why is that and should I even be looking at the bar chart at all?

2. The bars are for volume, how much is paid out total.

The EPC is how much paid per x amount of clicks

So the EPC can be very different, but the volume of total amount paid could be the same.

At least that is what I understand it to be

So let's say I am testing merchant 1 vs merchant 2 and I am split testing, sending both 100 clicks each. Assuming, same type of products, commission rate, etc. being equal.

So from the stats EPC it will tell me that merchant 2 would be a better pick? So hence, I get didlysquat info from the green bars?

Yes, I think so. The green bars are just showing how much the merchant pays out (compared to the rest of the CJ merchants)

A niche merchant might be the best fit for you, but they have no chance of ever being a 5 bar merchant

5. Thanks Julian!
