    Site Submission - Bing
The site submit page for Bing should be pretty easy. Problem is when I submit the URL it says to try again in the http://^^^.^^^^^.^^^/ format. I have tried numerous times but to no avail. Any thoughts? I know I am typing a valid URL.

I just tried it and got:

    Submit your site to Bing

Thank you for submitting your URL to Bing
MSNBot automatically indexes pages that meet accepted standards for content, design, and technical implementation.

This change will not be reflected immediately, so please be patient and check back periodically.

So it went thru ok for me.

Well, that was weird. Tried a few more times and didn't change a thing but the captcha. Accepted on the third try. Good. I manually submit for all new sites although it probably isn't necessary as much these days.

Bing is going to be a new animal to deal with in the near future I think.

The site is pretty cool and the organic hits to my site are going up every week.

Be nice to find some way to enter the urls in bulk..

    Google is funny about auto-submitters...

    I keep it to 5 urls a day / 7 days /365 ( Takes about a year and a half - lol )

We need to find what kind of limits Bing has and auto-mate it to run every day.

    IMHO of course.....

Does Bing have "Webmaster Tools" like google does? I always found that simply submitting my sitemap to G through that system got me indexed quickly. There's other values to it too.... Think I'll go write about that in the Analytics forum later on.

I find it almost impossible to get indexed in bing. I went to their forums a couple of weeks ago and there was a ton of folks trying to figure it out.

Same here. They've got a lot of one of my older established sites but the new ones I've found hard to get indexed, usually just the home page. Google no problem, Yahoo not the best but better than Bing. And then they're supposed to power Yahoo next year.

Thanks Trust. Submitted a site very easily that way. There's some good info back in there, too.

Get your index / defalt page indexed FIRST!

Make sure that the navigation on that page digs into the guts of your site.

    Nothing else matters.

    Do it manually.

Make sure that you are indexed with Yahoo right now.

Bing seems to be more content related than dependant on back-links.

Once you get indexed, submit pages that have links to the guts of your site.

Hopefully that 3rd tier will have links to other pages of your site.

Everything will depend on BALANCE in the next 3 - 5 years!

Currently, our store is roughly 600 pages or so. It was launched on October 5th if I remember correctly.

Bing had indexed 20 pages, and guess what? All 20 were linked to in some way or another on the homepage.

    So, RMG is onto something.

    I've got 15,600,000 results for startremodeling.com...

I did a LOT of changes to 2 of my sites over the summer and am reaping the benefits now.

My PPC sites are doing what PPC sites should do.

I fluctuate between pulling my hair out and throwing parties!

Actually, the same seo techniques that micro target my Google Adsense ads in the guts of my content pages, seems to be very effective for Bing results...

    Starting at the top.....

Title - Be spot on... Make sure that the content matches the organic search results you want to build....

e.g. - Clawfoot Tub Refinishing - title / descrip /metas ( no sense in not adding them ) content, header tags, and url to match............./clawfoot_tub_refinishing.html

Knowledgeable naming of your pages will result in some great organic results.

/remodeling_guy_is_a_butthead.html will get better results, organically, than remodelingguyisabutthead10675497564%.whatever.

    IMHO ~ Hope it helps!

Nice to see bing has a webmasters tool. I assume they will be adding more functionality as time goes on.

I see they have a Domain score and Page score.

Anyway, thanks for finding that Trust.

RMG, are you finding the underscore ( _ ) working as well or better than dashes ( - ) in the url? I've always used dashes as it was stated they are interpreted as spaces and underlines were ignored.

I've always read that dashes are better than underscores. I would be surprised if it made much difference though.

    I think Mike is right...

Don't think it makes much difference.....

It's just the way I started and the way it is..

It's just important to break up the words....

I would be very nervous to try dashes tho!

Underscores work very well for me.

    KEV!

Where exactly did you go and how did you submit the site_map?

    XML. HTML....?

    Just the site map page?

RMG: Just followed the link Trust provided, did HTML meta tag validation, and submitted an XML sitemap.

I'll keep you posted on whether or not it hits 5-10% per day or what.
