    Merchant Needs Datafeed Support
I have a new merchant with a datafeed in need of serious repair. Their web design firm charges too much and has not done a good job keeping it updated and organized.

My other merchants either have IT staff in-house or specialized support from their shopping carts. I need suggestions (cost-effective for a small merchant) for this type of service.

    Thanks.

    Pls explain 'serious repair'

If their products are online, CI can crawl it, map it and then publish it. It might be expensive for that though

    1) single feed
    2) or CI http://www.channelintelligence.com/

Serious repair meaning it needs to be updated immediately and updated regularly ongoing.

    Checkout CI's service then.

If it is "serious", then don't expect it to be cheap as serious things cost serious bucks

    All the best

Is their product catalog in a database? What are they using for a programming platform on their site (i.e. PHP, CFM, etc.)? Is it a home-grown shopping cart or a commercial one or a hosted one (like Yahoo Shopping)? Once you know those things, you should be able to find a developer to build a datafeed that pulls directly from their product table.

I really wouldn't expect it to be too expensive if you can find someone familiar with the programming platform and/or package that they're using. There may even be something already out there.

Also, check with the network it's hosted on to see if they have suggestions.

ShareAsale is sending over two vendors they have worked with. Thanks, Michael and Eric.

Different client this time. They are building a datafeed for the first time. Several hundred products. The vendor is saying 6 hours to build the datafeed in the ShareASale specs. Is this reasonable? Just need a second opinion.

Is this for a fully automated solution (actually sends the feed to the network regularly), semi-automated (like a URL that just generates the datafeed that can then be uploaded to the network), or some sort of manual one-time generation?

If it's fully automated, that's probably a reasonable amount of time. If it's semi-automated, it should be easier than that unless the data needs some pretty major manipulation. If manual, run away - find someone that will automate it more for you.
