    Merchant Promotion??
It seems that in the SAS network that once you sign up as a merchant, that the longer you are in there the further you get buried to the bottom of the pile.

Is this true? or how do merchants promote themselves from within the system?

You don't promote yourself from within the Shareasale system, other than purchasing ads to go in their merchant ad rotation.

You recruit outside the network, places like right here ( http://www.abestweb.com/advertising/ )

If you are a new merchant, there is a whole section of best practices here that you might want to read:

Welcome to ABestWeb If you stick around, do some reading and ask some questions you'll learn a lot quickly.

The advertising opportunites that Loxly is talking about can be found here: http://www.shareasale.com/m-featuredprograms.cfm, you have to be logged in to view the different advertising opportunities. This is a great way for affiliates to find your program in a non-intrusive manner. Besides networking events, and advertising here at ABW, registering for a featured program spot is an effective(and affordable) way to increase the number of affiliates in your program.

    Thanks,
    Brent

We are "semi-new" - but I have found that promoting your affiliate program on your website will help grow your number of affiliates. Make sure that your newsletters are designated as public if possible and use ALL of the tools that Shareasale provides which apply to your business.

For example, upload lots of different size creatives, upload coupons, clearance items, specials on a regular basis, keep your datafeed up to date (if you have one).

Create a few widgets (some affiliates look for merchants with Widgets). Create Gift Cards if you have them and even create a few dynamic creatives if you can.

Each tool that you use will broaden your exposure - as each affiliate uses different tools.

Good luck to you and WELCOME!!

Make sure your program is competitive by comparing what other programs are offering. Your program name, description and brand banner are very important as its what affiliate will first see.

Here's a backlink tool, use it to find who your competition is pointed from: http://tools.seobook.com/link-tools/.../backlinks.php

Setup Google Alerts for all your keywords and include alerts for your competitors.

Search ABW for more information on recruiting, there's a ton.

If you're not generating any sales for your affiliates, then yes, you'll be buried. If you continue to generate sales for your affiliates you should continue to get exposure. Affiliates are going to be more likely to search for merchants w/ higher sales.

    Brent,

Do you have any general info about number of unique aff views of these different pages/programs as well as the average sign up rate percentage of affs that view these featured spots?

    Hey there,

We do not have numbers for this. Results on the Featured Programs vary wildly depending on the type of promotion, the creative used and a variety of other factors. It is very important to spend time crafting a good creative for these programs - one that highlights the benefits of your program and that entices an affiliate to click on the link to join or learn more. In my own personal experience while AMing at CSN Stores, it was very effective. A good portion of our affiliate base came from the featured programs sign-ups.

    Hope that helps,
    Brent

Thanks. I understand that the numbers would vary widely, but I was hoping that you internally tracked this sort of thing so you could use these numbers as a selling point to having programs spending additional funds with SAS.

I currently have a program with you and the average earnings for the affs is always between $30-$100, so it's a decent money earner for affs, but I am always looking to effectively increase the number of affs that actually sell.
