Okay, so I got tired of being teased about using Network Solutions for domain registrations, and decided to give Go Daddy a try, since everyone seems to think they're the bomb.

I tried for 15 minutes to register a domain name with no success. Nearly every time I clicked the "Continue" button or any other link I got a dead page or the darn thing polled endlessly with no results.

Is this normal? Should I just give up and register with Network Solutions, or should I try Go Daddy later and hope for better results?

I would suggest that you not use Registerfly as they have no service at all. I am currently transferring all of my domains away from them.

I use GoDaddy for all my domain needs.

I have never had any problems with them what-so-ever. *Knock On Wood*

Great customer service, easy registration and renewal, simple transfers, etc.

You must have experienced a glitch of some sort.

One of the worst companies to purchase your new domain name from in my opinion is lowestdomainrates.com.
I wanted to transfer a domain name I had purchased with them to GoDaddy.com and this company lowestdomainrates.com sent me a form, (copy of form)to fill in that requested not only my private details like name and address they also wanted me to send them a photograph signed by a notary.
I have never ever been asked for this before when I have requested a domain transfer I can only assume they request this to try to stop you transferring your domain name by way of letting you know it is going to be cheaper to stay with them than to get the requested form filled out.

Stay with Godaddy.com..... they are very good and cheap.

Also a happy GD customer, hated their hosting and support for the same, but their domain name service is great IMHO.

Not usual at all for GoDaddy, in my experience. I've transferred all my domains from NS/Verisign-Hell for the ease of deaing with GaDaddy, not to mention my averision to making the the boat payment of the Verisign CEO.

I'd suggest trying again. You may have hit them on a rare bad day.

I've had no problems with godaddy. Once I learned to ignore all the extras they try to sell me, they're cheap and easy.

I also have had no issues with GoDaddy...especially now that they have some great sales on for certain tld's.

I do also use Enom for a lot of my registrations. They are very easy to work with and the pricing is pretty good. If you are interested, I could create an Enom user's account for you with your cost for a domain for the major tld's (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .us, .info) is $8.95. PM me if you (or anyone else) is interested.

    > love enom, can't stand any of the others...

Enom recently started to inject pop-up's on their customer's redirected domains, causing a bunch of people to have their adsense accounts frozen.

They've also had a lot of problems with their DNS services, so if you use them for DNS and have had traffic holes - that's possibly why.

    Handle with care.

I have pop up blocking on, will check on the redirected domain issue, since I have several.

I use their name servers and haven't experienced any difficulties or drops in traffic. Occasionally it takes a few hours for a new domain to show up.

I do monitor traffic quite heavily.

    Good advice guys, thanks.

I was going to host my new site on GD, because it's cheap and seems easy to set up. Tj said she hated their hosting and support though, which makes me wonder if it's a good idea to host there. Have any of you hosted with them? Are you happy? Unhappy? I'd love to get some feedback.

    Muchos, dollinks!

We don't use their hosting, because we are very content to the one we are using!

Well I just tested about 25 redirects and didn't have any pop ups so someone is telling fibs here. Someone may need to check their own computers for spyware, or find out really why their adsense accounts are being frozen.... or admit the real reason...

It might also depend what kind of hosting you are looking for, if you need something real simple and reliable, they might be the path to go down... I don't remember any downtime while I was with them

Am I allowed to post the link to the domain-related forum where it is being discussed?

NO, it was NOT directed at you, but to the people that are making the claims. I don't know if posting the link is allowed, but I maintain that if is isn't happening on my own account, then how can it be happening on others?
