Loved it & living it ! Oh my gosh...this could be a literal script for situations I've experienced. And I now do caregiving as well until I figure out new design ventures—and much prefer my new clients.

OMG - that one really hit home. I never had any jobs go that badly - but have had similar comments. At one time (late last millennium) I thought I was going to be the web guy for the masses (at least among small Mom-and-Pops in a couple neighborhoods). I was soooo glad I discovered affiliate marketing, and in 2003&4 was able to either "fire" or non-renew most of the web accounts I was maintaining - and stopped taking new accounts.

Seafood restaurant: "...on the menu page I don't really like the price to say "Market Price" for the fresh seafood. How 'bout I tell you when to change it and what to change it to..."

Realtor: "The owner likes the photos of the new listing but didn't really want his family picture on the wall in the bedroom shot. We need to go back and re-take that." Of course he didn't expect me to charge him for another "photo-shoot."

Or, "...my "insert-relative-here" knows about computers and thinks you should do "some-inane-request" this way..."

    Yadda-yadda-yadda.

Been there, done that. LOL. I only have myself as a client now and I must say that I'm much easier to work with.

I am planning on banning the words "pop" and "edgy",

It's so funny because it's true - so much so, that I'm planning a major change in the way I do business, hence building a business in affiliate marketing. I'm quite lucky that a relatively small percentage of my (now ex-)clients have come up with ridiculous and inane feedback.

I have, on occasion, fired clients - and visited their "new" site after they've either:

    - Hired someone else or,
    - Got their (insert random friend/family member/pet here) to do it.

And had to hold back on sending an email asking: "Hey, how's that site converting for you

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

The one that bowled me over was a client who decided to use a "Christian" webmaster—implying that they were going to treat her honestly—and I hadn't.

What was the difference? A Flash homepage (groan). They were going to copy/paste the current pages into a new template—the final cost for that (& for less pages) equaled what I had charged for a site design...+ writing content, custom PayPal (very customized), creating an inventory system, installing a backend form manager, created separate discount membership programs for individuals & companies as well as sorting out dozens of non-web related biz issues including branding a segment of related products, advice on pricing points, etc.

Many months later, after viewing minor changes, the site reverted to my design.

    OK, onto new adventures!
