Merchandiser Query API - Not all there?
I just started using the Merchandiser Query API. It seems to work pretty well for some of the bigger retailers (TigerDirect, CompUsa, etc), but not so well for some of the smaller ones (refurbdepot, electronics expo, etc). I was wondering if anybody had experience with this? Is it up to the retailer to populate/update their databases or something?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Can you be more specific. I don't seem to be having a problem with it.

I have developed interfaces using Linkshare webservices and did not have a lot of problems. On one or two occassions I had to contact the affilliate manager to have them authorize my use of the webservice for their program. Also had to do some research to insure I was getting proper impression credit-- when my interfaces rendered the links. It's a bit tricky.

So even if the affiliate approves you, you're not guaranteed that webservices are turned on?

i had difficulty with the API. i am a newb, but my results have been frustrating.

    for instance,
XXX?token=XXX&max=1&pagenumber=1&keyword=%22Mac%22 gives me the first page.

    BUT!!!

    XXX?token=XXX&max=1&pagenumber=2&keyword=%22Mac%22 gives me an error.

    is this just me?

P.S. thank goodness there is a forum. i have found NO api support whatsoever and i believe that this is ... not good.

    Here's an example that works:

    http://feed.linksynergy.com/products...keyword=iphone headphones&sort=retailprice&sorttype=asc
    http://feed.linksynergy.com/products...keyword=iphone headphones&sort=retailprice&sorttype=asc

Maybe your Max is too small.

Oops, looks like they cut out the URL. Let me try again:

    feed.linksynergy.com/productsearch?token=xxxxxx&max=100&pagenumber=1&keyword=iphone headphones&sort=retailprice&sorttype=asc
    feed.linksynergy.com/productsearch?token=xxxxxx&max=100&pagenumber=2&keyword=iphone headphones&sort=retailprice&sorttype=asc

i still get inconsistent results; sometime it just doesn't work.

is there a governor on this web service similar to the scheme employed at digg?

    thank you for your assistance.

    sincerely,

This may be obvious, but are you sure there are at least two pages of results.
There is a field on the first call for "totalpages", do you check that before making the call to the 2nd page?

    yes.

i have checked that. i am within the TotalPages boundary.

it sounds as if i am the only person experiencing the inconsistency i've mentioned, so i will stop bugging.

thanks to all those who have responded.

    bright-side:
the service didn't work at all for me at first.
    now it is inconsistent.
perhaps things will just keep getting better.
