does an affiliate link work if a cashback site is involved
    Hi
So I've researched this, but maybe using the wrong terminology as i am new to this.
Lets say i have a shopping blog with a deal on some camera or gps,
and I paste the link with an affiliate link, so if someone purchases the item from reading my blog, i'll get a little commission.
What if a cashback site is offering a cashback incentive, e.g something like bing or ebates.. if i post on my blog that besides for getting this item for $x.xx , visit bing for an extra 4% cashback, will i then lose my affiliate link? will the customer have purchased via bing, and no record of my initial recommendation ?

Again , excuse my ignorance, but i am trying to find the correct answer

    Thanks

    yeah
yeah lostdeviant is correct, last click wins, infact i would stay away totally from cashback sites and such as ebates, those sites not only will screw up your links, but also totally redirect traffic to there site instead of yours. . most merchants, the good ones usually have coupons and special deal links for you to use with your affiliate link. I used to tell others about cash back as well, but after finding out that wasn;t a good idea, removed ebates and other sites, my sales jumped about 50% increase by doing that action.

Just a question on that particular point, most merchants...

cant you use your coupon with the cashback site? thus once again rendering my blog attempts futile?

The cash back site will overwrite your coupon and cookie with their own and they will get credit for the sale - not you.

Last click gets the sale and they will be the last click if you send your customer to them instead of sending your customers to the merchant's site yourself.

The only exception is that sometimes if you can get exclusive coupons from a merchant and the merchant tracks to the coupon (I'm thinking someone like Things From Another World). Even if they click through another site, if they use your coupon, you will still get the credit. Those programs are rare but it's worth looking for them.

Many of my merchants have that capability as well, it is done manually though at the moment. Other of my merchants don't have coupons but have general deals. As an affiliate yourself, you absolutely don't want to send your site visitors to another affiliate's website. And pretty much all loyalty/cashback sites are affiliate sites.
