A store is insulting coupon sites
I saw one store in CJ that has the terms like this:

You will not earn commissions on any sales in which a consumer places an order using any kind of coupon.

Are there many stores having this kind of terms? Does anyone have a list so that I can avoid?

It's not insulting to me and I have a coupon site. I would rather that a merchant would be up front about how they feel about coupons. I'm not too happy though if they use coupons for other channels and not affiliate. They show the little box on check out and have the customer run around looking. Then they get the cookie from someone who misleads them about having a coupon. Messy--

    Hi talentcn,

I'm sure it is not meant as an insult. It's simply a business decision. Merchants formulate their policies based on their business needs.

    All the best!

That's a merchant to stay away from, even if you don't have a coupon site. Because a shopper can click thru from any type of site and you can be following their rules and not list any coupons but the shopper can pick one up from another site and checkout and the merchant can zap your commissions.

As a merchant we, too, decided "no coupons." However, what we do have are "deals" with matching banners and landing pages for our coupon-site affiliates - just no coupon "codes" needed.

What we do NOT have is a field in the shopping cart in which to put a coupon. Therefore our affiliates won't have their referred customers leave the cart to go out and search for a coupon.

We anticipated this to be amenable to coupon sites and non-coupon sites alike. From watching sales metrics from our first three months it appears to be working very well.

This is easily incorporated into coupon sites as well. I have advertisers who often don't have coupons but do have "Deals".

Here's an example of how to incorporate this, if anyone's interested.

I thought editing the post would be easy. Apparently, posts can't be edited

I have coupon sites and like when merchants let you know up front. If they have a problem I try to contact them and work out a solution. Most merchants only pay commission on coupons provided by them. I have an option on my site that can block user contributed coupons. This has helped out a lot with certain merchants.
