I admit it, I need lots of education, but what's an Outsourced Program Manager?

Merchants may have an in-house employee who manages their affiliate program - or they may hire a professional to manage their program. That would be an "Outsourced" program manager.

I don't think that definition is fair to all the professional in-house affiliate managers out there.

An affiliate manager is an employee of a merchant who runs their affiliate program, while an OPM is an independent contractor who does the same for a variety of different merchants.

Exactly, in house managers are professional also, OPMs manage multiple programs and can consult and train in house managers. There are many good OPMs here on ABW

Very true. Sorry if I implied that in-house affiliate program managers were not professional. I was trying to show the meaning of the term "outsourced" program manager.

I knew what you meant And most OPMs started as an in-house manager for somebody, then branched out to work on their own.
