Oh, please. There was nothing heartfelt about that. He sounded like a school kid reading a page from a book in front of the rest of the class. The guy is so full of shit that he needs Charmin to wipe his eyes. He wouldn't make it through a three-minute audition to be an infomercial pitchman for useless gadgets.

Some of what he said was very nice... requests for paparazzi to leave his family alone, etc, but the sensibility of that has nothing to do with the fact that he is just plain full of shit.

What about that tearful porn star?

Did she make you cry too?

What a circus this is. Frankly, don't care for him or care about what he has to say.

He knows the academy awards are up in March and he wants to switch careers.

I have to wonder if he's really sorry, or if he's just sorry he got caught.

Tiger is obviously trying to get help and that is proof that he wants to change his ways.

It is easy to sit back and throw stones, especially at celebrities and athletes. What if it were your friend? Would you have compassion and support them (not agree with their behavior, but just give support) or would you condemn them?

I would give my support because it is what I would want if I were in that situation and because I make mistakes all the time.

Does everyone need a written statement to apologize these days? What ever happened to an honest heartfelt "I screwed up" (in Tigers case it would be up, down around and every which way) and "I'm sorry"?

I could really care less about his "statement" or "apology" or whatever you want to call it. It's not me or the public at large that really need an apology from him. Whether he screws around doesn't affect my life one way or another. He should be apologizing to the people it does affect. Since he's supposedly already done that, I can only assume there are ulterior motives with this public statement. And I'll leave it at that.

I wouldn't condemn them, but I'd probably give them a good ol' fashioned shunning for a bit until they convinced me they were sincerely sorry and were changing their ways. They would have to go a long way to earn back my support and trust. Trust, once broken, is hard to earn back.

I didn't see it but my take is that he needed to make a public apology to satisfy some of his sponsors. And the PGA.

I didn't see it but listened to it on the radio. Parts seemed genuine, others forced. You could hear the tone change in his voice. I think he could have shortened the whole thing.

It was interesting that he went on and on about the fact that his wife never hit him at Thanksgiving or ever. -- sounded like a you better go out and set the record straight kinda thing being demanded by his wife. Sad situation all around. It amazes me with so many women involved that it took as long as it did to come to surface.

+1. Accenture, Gillette, Gatorade & AT&T dropped him...let's face it, sponsors are how sports figures earn the big $.

"Woods' major business partners, including Nike , Gatorade, Gillette and EA have continued to support him since allegations of an affair first surfaced in late November. That support continued on Friday."

I feel bad for his wife and children, if he was single this wouldn't be an issue. He seemed pretty fake at the press conference, not the best actor but it satisfied a lot of his sponsors which I think was the whole point. Hence the no questions and hand picked people there to listen to it. He'll still get hounded by the media because of him not taking any questions, so that part he brings on himself. You shouldn't cheat, and you might excuse one but with the number that we know about and I've lost count, I think he's more upset he got caught.

There are exceptions to that, btw. There are some cases where walking a mile in someone's shoes is very ill advised. For example, to walk a mile in Tiger's shoes I'd have to.... well, I think everyone here can figure that one out. LOL.

I don’t want to judge, but it seemed genuine at times. I've personally seen him play and have followed him on the course, he's very arrogant and I think that's why he's being slaughtered by players, the media, and the fans. I hope for his sake he really does find help and that he gets over himself....
