Lisa Picarille just made this new update on California worth reading.
Itís getting complicated. There are two bills to watch now instead of one.
Monday, the Assembly took all the content from the senate budget bills and duplicated them in assembly bills so they could be amended. The House cannot amend a bill that has been sent to it for concurrence.
The original version of the bill is in ABX8 8 and was referred to Assembly Rules Committee, where it may be referred to Assembly Revenue and Tax Committee. Itís not on their agenda for Wednesday yet, but it could happen. If it does, it would be the first ever policy hearing for the bill.
We are still hoping that it dies in the Rules Committee. So, keep up those calls to the democrats on that committee. We can skip hitting the republicans because they are with us on this one.
The copy the Assembly made yesterday is in SBX8 8, which is on the Assembly floor and could be acted on at any time. The Assembly is not set to meet again until Thursday. We are still waiting for more info.
The good news is that the calls are working but again, please focus on the democrats. However, if you want to tell your specific affiliate/small business story to a republican on the committee that is more than welcome and you can email them.
Letís keep the pressure on. It seems to be working.
Here are the Dems to focus on:
Charles Calderon, Chair: 916-319-2058
Joe Coto: 916-319-2023
Fiona Ma: 916-319-2012
Anthony Portantino: 916-319-2044
Lori Saldana: 916-319-2076
