    I'm Moving to Houston!
In a couple of weeks we'll be packing up a truck and moving out of Albuquerque, heading to Houston, Texas. We'll be down in the Clear Lake/Webster/League City area.

Who wants to help unload the truck?

Nobody??? That's okay, we hired a couple of movers

I have two questions for anyone living in that area though... first, are there any regular gatherings of like-minded affiliates or web geeks that I can get in on? And second, what do we know about the status of Texas as far as the advertising tax bills? Do we have people on the ground there already?

We're heading home, in a way. My wife and I both graduated from High School there, and our families still live there. Our parents are both thrilled that the grandkids will be around. We both have siblings living there too, and they've got kids, so Winter and Ian will be able to grow up with their cousins, which is awesome, too.

The next few weeks are going to be hectic... maybe I should go back to calling myself HecticDMC until we get settled

    Killer timing...

Grass in starting to turn green here THIS week.

Trees are budding and ready to get some leaves.

You can enjoy the Spring before the heat gets here.

But since you are from NM, I imagine the heat scares you.

    Good luck on the move.

    OH!

And Galveston has come back from the Hurricane in better shape than it was in many places.

About a 30 min drive from where you'll be at.

Not too many beaches in NM eh? -

No, not too many beaches lol
The heat here isn't that bad most days, actually... even in the summer. It's a dry heat, which sounds really cliche, but man does it make a difference. Houston humidity, I'm not looking forward to that.
Great to hear that about Galveston though - my wife is looking forward to going down there.

You guys are also minutes away from the Boardwalk....

Roller coasters, great restaurants, good night life.

I'm completely on the other side of town -

Oooh I know... Kemah was just starting to improve when we moved out of Houston years ago, but we've been back to visit family more recently and... wow... how things have changed.

Good luck on the move. Sounds like a win-win, especially being closer to family.

You're right about dry vs. humid heat. Being a California girl, I've been in 115 degree dry California desert heat and did ok. Stick me in Florida at 80 degrees with that humidity and I melt.

Good luck with the move. (Timing is good, legislators in New Mexico have announced they will reintroduce the Internet sales tax bill next year. )

Nice! I'm on the North side, so I don't make it down to Galveston much. Spring break is next week though so maybe I'll get a chance to head down there and soak up some sun.
