This world has gone to hell in a handbasket
    Technology is cool. OK. But....

Today I was shopping for a new coffee/espresso brewer. They have one called "talk-n-brew" where you talk to the coffee machine and give it a verbal command to brew your coffee for you.

This is just way too far over the edge. What the hell is this world coming to?

There are some lonely people out there, talking to their coffee machine makes them feel like they have friends

I wonder how much more you pay for a coffee maker you can talk to versus the mute kind. And how confused are kids going to be years from now when they run into old coffee makers that can't hold a conversation?

My coffee pot almost works like that. I tell Loxly to make me a coffee and all I hear is @#$%^^ I am guessing it is the pot making that noise lol.

Whats the point? After you put the water, filter and grounds in all of the actual work is done... what makes speaking to it to start so great? You still probably have to turn the thing on before you can start talking to it anyway.

The irony is, I don't really want to talk to anyone before I've had my coffee. That includes the coffee maker.

If it could be programed to tell you a story while the coffee is brewing, they would have something.

Here Here. And for my "my coffee" is defined as at least two 12 ounce mugs.

I can just picture it: I pass through the kitchen on my way to feed the dog. "Start brew cycle" I yell in the general direction of the appliance corner. I go out and get the papers, let the dog out and come back to the kitchen. The coffee pot is sitting there empty, just like it was when I saw it last.
"Am I mute?", which is something I've asked out loud many times in my life.
"I thought you were talking to Mr Beer", my coffee pot replies.

It is not a talk-n-brew, it is Speak-N-Brew so we better get it right.

    I found this, too: http://www.amazon.com/Primula-SAB-30.../dp/B002Q0W7PS

In the article she says, "I do have to say that that most fun I have with this coffee maker is waiting for my guests to follow me into the kitchen and seeing the expression on their faces when I start talking to my automatic coffee maker."

Maybe that is what the draw really is. Getting attention, if even from a coffee maker!

Wonder if her quests expressions are in wonder about the coffee maker or her sanity? Bet it would be funny to see for the first time though.

People just think I'm crazy when I talk to the toaster.
