    Fed Issues Final Rules on Gift Cards
    "Gift cards sold on or after Aug. 22 must have at least five years until they expire and card issuers can’t charge fees for replacing an expired certificate or card or for refunding the remaining balance, according to final rules issued by the Federal Reserve this week." Credit Union Time

    Shoppers determine what has value and they like coupons. Stop manipulating who set the cookie just because you do not like coupon and promotional sites.

    Generally speaking, affiliates only earn commissions on gift cards when they are redeemed, correct?

    There's no real consistency. Some pay when they're purchased through an affiliate link. Some pay when they're redeemed through an affiliate link. Some pay both ways. Some pay neither way.

    Gift Cards are a great business for the merchants, considering the breakage. Even a 5 Years expiration seems short considering Cash never expires.

    That seems strange to me that a merchant would only pay on the redemption of a gift card. Regardless of whether they use it or not, there as still an exchange of cash during the purchase.
