    Bait & Switch at uSocial
This is becoming a new trend at Shareasale.

This is an automated notification regarding a commission change for the uSocial ShareASale Affiliate Program.
This merchant has made a change to their default commission rate.

    Previous Per Sale Commission: 20.00%
    New Per Sale Commission: 0.00%
The program is not closed so affiliates are sending their traffic for free.
The stats look good 7day EPC $159.72 7day average commission $41.53
    7day EPC $207.22 7day average commission $45.00

You can still get links, spend your money on PPC, close sales but you will not be paid. Is it acceptable?

I made a mistake with my cut & paste of uSocial stats:
    7day EPC $159.72 7day average commission $41.53
    30day EPC $207.22 30day average commission $45.00

    Summary of the program:
Campaign start date: Jan 25, 2010
    Feb 2: Coupon for Twitter
Feb 17: Commission change from 20 to 50% followed the same day by an other Commission change back from 50 to 20%
    Mar 2: Coupon for facebook
Mar 26: Commission change from 20 to 0%

No email informing us they have a problem. No change in their agreement.
Are they thinking their affiliates will not see the change in commission?

They do now, thanks to ShareASale.

Let's give ShareASale a chance to contact the merchant and figure out where things stand.

It has been going on for too long. The system must be corrected.
Many affiliates are making a big deal if the merchant is not on auto-deposit. I don't care, my traffic is redirected to my own site. In that case my traffic is stolen by the merchant.

The program is closing which is the reason for the change... Should get an update soon.

    Thanks for the info, Brian.
Let me give you an other example. One of SAS PowerRank merchants, EverestNutrition closed March 15. The AM sent many emails to warn their affiliates. They choose to switch to 0% commission and I'm not happy for that. The program is still active, affiliates can get links, many affiliates are still sending traffic to them 2 weeks later. (They should read their emails).
Switching our commission rate to 0 is not the proper way to close a program. What can be done to prevent that?

$0.00 commission rate should result in redirected links at least. Even if their links are left live for just a matter of hours in this condition.... that is just wrong.

Sure. If I'm speaking of this problem it's because SAS is one of the cleanest and more transparent networks. Without their automatic email for commission change and reporting, such problems would be impossible to identify. The merchants can do what they want in the dark with major networks (and most affiliates have no idea of what's happening). I know Brian has the willingness and knowhow to improve his network. I don't have the solution but I think the problem can be solved

    Totally agree.

When merchant goes offline (temporarily or permanent) it redirects to your own website, so when they put in a $0 commission rate, it should at the very least redirect as well and should be so hard to program in.
