    Ad Click is puting pop ups and pop unders for porn on our website. Its only viewable on a Linux / Netscape machine so far. How do we stop this. Grrrr !

    //Edit
    Thinking about it some more, maybe they read the cookie wrong or the wrong cookie. Its one of only 82K hits so far for the month.

    Should I keep the disclaimer up ? //

    What is Ad Click? Something on your site that you can remove?

    Remove the reinvigorate.net javascript from your page, and see if the pop-up's disappear.

    It's got a lot of browser detection stuff in that script, so if the pop-up's are only happening on certain browsers, there's a good chance it's coming from there.

    Don't know.. maybe I heard it wrong as I was beyond angry when I heard about.

    It was explained this way. A machine picks up spyware unknowingly via a cookie, visit a site that meets the spyware qualifications and you get the pop up.

    Its not on our server and its only on a Linux / Netscape, so far.

    Sean wouldn't do that. We have been using the JS for over a year. We will nail this down ! Until then, a disclaimer is on our site.

    Cool, we hope its an isolated incident from the North West. I hate those kinds of email.

    Sounds like you got an email or something from one of your visitors that experience this?

    It is most likely a problem with their computer and not your site. They need to run a detection and removal scan of their computer.

    Just for proper understanding.....spyware/adware is NOT picked up via a cookie! This is a misconception that helps in making people scared of affiliate cookies. Cookies are just text files and they do not install things themselves.

    Feeling more comfortable about this now. Panic is subsiding. I have read a few posts here about sites that lost their merchants cause of this kind of stuff. They had to defend themselves with sworn statements, finger prints, their first born.

    Ah. OK. I was under the impression you saw the pop-up on a machine under your control.

    There is javascript out there that uses hidden windows and delayed pop-up's, so the user in question may have caught it from an early site and it just happened to appear while he was at your one.

    And Mr. Sal, my campaign to get rid of IE is based on BHO stuuf - not javascipt pop-up's.
