I was wondering if anyone here could help me out.

I have a friend who just had Win98 reloaded onto their machine (clean install).

They belong to a website where they have to login to access information for their business.

Once they enter their username and password, they click on text link, then on the next page there should be an image that says enter. For them, once they get to that page, the image is now broken and they can't click on it.

I have tried it on my XP and Win98 machines and it works just fine for me. The image is there and I can click on it and enter the protected area just fine.

The link looks like: (url and numbers changed to protect the website)

    http://www.thewebsite.com/records/en...as=00000000000

Does anyone what any ideas as to what the problem is?

All the Sun Java etc on the machine is the newest versions.

    TIA
    ~Michelle

Since MS is no longer supprting the W98 products, my suggestion would be to upgrade them to XP. I am not sure if you can still use the update feature on the MS web site to make sure your W98 has all of the latest drivers and utilities installed, but that would be a good place to start.
You might also try simply updating their browser.

MS supports Windows 98 updates til Jan 2005. Just get the latest security patches and IE 6.0 and also check that the log-in image isn't blocked by Norton.

Everything is current as far as OS drivers and browsers.

I have already sent them a message about Norton and have been waiting to hear back as to whether or not they have it installed on their machine.

It may be far-fetched, but has anyone put a 98 Cd in and run SFC? even with a new install, something could have got goofy.

could be some .dll got whacked and is holding things up . . . or not.

I would check their security settings for Internet Exploder.

    Tools/Internet Options/Security

select the 'internet' zone and click 'custom settings' and compare the configuration to a machine where it works.

Also worth checking the 'Advanced' tab in Internet Options (especially the security stuff)
