Your Buy button clearly says "Buy from Amazon.com" and when you click on the button it loads your affiliate link to that product on Amazon. So I am not sure why you are trying to hide the fact that the user is going to Amazon when its written right on the Buy button.

The product's detail page is completely customizable. That sample uses the details6.html format template (view source). The "Buy from amazon.com" button is output via the {format.addto.buy} format code on that format template. You can replace that with your own linking method (the ASIN is in {details.asin}).

    If you just want to cloak the links so they don't link directly to amazon.com, then set the redir configuration variable to yes. Or if you want the links to go through your own link tracking/redirection, then go to Formatting Library and scroll down to the example about modifying {format.url} (it generates the link URL's). If you want to add rel="nofollow" to all amazon.com links then edit {format.url}

Hiding "Buy from amazon.com" is possible (as mentioned in my first paragraph); showing it provides consumer confidence. AE does not support a local shopping cart. The user must go to amazon.com.

The PHP template design you mention already contains a PHP based amazon.com local shopping cart solution. I'm not sure why you would want to integrate AE into that system.

AE supports data caching from 0 to 72 hours. Set the cache.stale configuration variable. Default is 1 (hour). Amazon.com allows price caching up to a maximum of 3 days (72 hours).

Oh, Just observed, we Mask the Links on the Product Image aslo. Correct?

Data caching means Images as well as Content will be Cached. Correct?

Amazon.com allows price caching up to a maximum of 3 days (72 hours).
I think amazon allows only 24 hours max for price to be cached. No?

    1. Yes. redir configuration variable affects all product links. {format.url} format code generates all product links. You can cloak/redirect any way you want.

    2. No. Product data and category data is cached. Product images are not cached; they are served directly from amazon.com (that is allowed by Amazon.com).

    3. You can set the cache.stale configuration variable. Default is 1 hour.

    Hello David,

Ever we were under impression that Images are mirrored in the local server, if images are served from Amazon directly, is it not very easy to Search Engine know that its a bridge page and get penalize soon?

    Just curious to know.

    Thanks David!!!

The Amazon.com Product Advertising API License Agreement states:

    4. Usage Requirements. (n) You will not store or cache Product Advertising Content consisting of an image, but you may store a link to Product Advertising Content consisting of an image for up to 24 hours. ...

Amazon.com allows you to use their image URL's.

If you want to cloak image URL's (or load images from your own local image cache) then you can do that by modifying the formatting codes {format.image.thumb}, {format.image.small}, {format.image.medium}, {format.image.large}. It is up to you to "roll your own" image URL's and create your own local image cache; the ASIN is in {details.asin}.
