    WP e-Commerce Plug in
Anybody use WP e-Commerce plug in to make your Word Press blog into a merchant site? I have installed it on a template designed for it. It seems to work ok, but I am concerned that shoppers will have an issue with security. There is no secure spot on my site, but when you check out it does take you to PayPal, which is secure. Anybody see a problem with this type of layout? Is there something better I should be doing for a merchant site? I just like the ease of use with WP.

If you are collecting consumer information on your site they may feel more comfortable seeing the lock in the browser that says their info is "secure". If you don't collect any information and you just get it from PayPal, then have a page explaining your security on your site and how nothing is stored online by your site.

I would get a cheap SSL from Godaddy (like $12/yr) and put there seal on your site. You will also protect their info plus give them the security feeling from the seal. For $12/yr thats a good deal.

In order to continuely take customer info you must have a secure site if you do not you may get alot of visits that do not buy from you which is a major loss in ecommerce need to be as safe as possible possibly a macafee security stamp cheers.

I've never seen an SSL from GoDaddy for $12 a year. I'd also like to see a site that it is on before I spend that little on an SSL, do you really get the browser lock sign and a security seal?

Sending people to PayPal they are not giving you customer info on your site other than their name and address for shipping. If you are selling downloads you don't even collect that. Most people are used to giving out that info and not checking if it is a secure site.

I'd like to know if anyone has done a usability study on the different WP ecommerce plugins and whether they have secure certificates or not. I'm testing this plugin, but just started so no results yet, other than great SERPs for certain *very specific* long tail keywords. I was looking up something to verify some info and BAM my own sites were the first results, lol. Not a commonly searched term though, so not throwing a party yet
