By any chance can someone here explain to me why I would see this entry in my Stats Page?

It just stands out as very strange - over 3,000 pages visited? And when I checked the host in google - it really doesn't exist. true.path is a christian hosting company - but, guam.truepath.com isn't anything...

    HOST: guam.truepath.com PAGES: 3178 HITS: 3178 BANDWIDTH: 67.79 MB LAST VISIT 23 Jun 2004 - 07:07

I'm just very curious why anyone would spend their time with over 3,000 of my pages.

It may be a site stealer. Watch Google and the other SEs and make sure a copy site doesn't appear...

Wow... Ok, if so - is there something I can do about it? What about all my links? Who would want to change all my aff links to their own - 3,000 pages? What would this then do to me?

How would I block these guys in the future?

This is all new to me - any thoughts and/or suggestions?

    Thanks

    John

How do we know if this is real human traffic or
    SE spider traffic ?

Someone with rookie knowledge can copy your site, replace your PID with theirs, and have it back up on another domain in minutes.
Find text patterns on your site that are not likely at all to be anywhere else and search for them. It may take them some time to get it listed with the SE's, but if that is the case you should be able to find it.
At that point I would call the meanest SOB attorney you can find and go after them.
    Good luck

Vrindavan: The stat was under "Hosts" and not "Search Engines/Spiders"

Anyway, I already created a htaccess file to deny future access. And a cute image file just in case bandwidth stealing was an issue.

I'll be checking for similar sites over the next week or two.

I suppose I should take it as a compliment (almost)...

Yikes, had to delete the image portion - seems that denys access to ABW as well...

Check again in a month or so, too.

Copiers may not get any links in from places that get spidered often, causing it to take them longer to be found by the SEs.

    Ok Leader - thanks

Scohaz - Yes, I have a few lines of text that I'm sure nobody else would use - sort of a "John" way of writing I suppose. Thanks for the assist!
